WHEATGRASS INFORMATION AND FACTS

Filed under: Health & Lifestyle, Nutrition — WorkerBee @ 11:48 pm

Wheatgrass juice, made from sprounted wheat berries, is said to be high in chlorophyll. Wheatgrass takes 10-12 days to grow before juicing and it needs special care that sprouts do not.

Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass was not used this way until the 1930s, so it has not been used for centuries, and essentially that was a self-defeating argument. Wheatgrass juice has been successfully used to treat anemia in humans. Wheatgrass has been shown to expand the blood vessels and improve circulation; this improves oxygenation of blood and the ability to rid the blood of toxins.

Health

Although no research exists that directly connects chlorophyll with blood building, many nutrients associated with dark green leafy vegetables have been shown to be important for healthy blood. It has been reported that Chlorophyll has regenerative properties and studies have supported its power as an immune booster, free radical fighter, energizer and promoter of healthy circulation.

The average soda has no nutritional value. Most contain only sugar, carbonated water, caramel coloring, flavoring, caffeine, and high fructose corn syrup. Dark colored soft drinks such as colas also contain phosphoric acid. Clear soft drinks (lemon-lime flavored) have citric acid.

THE AMAZING NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS OF CHERRIES

Filed under: Health & Lifestyle, Nutrition, Alternative Medicine — WorkerBee @ 5:05 pm

The nutritional benefits of cherries are pretty big, particularly when you consider their small size. Many of the health benefits of cherries are related to the natural chemical that gives them their color.

Anthocyanins give flowers, berries and other fruits the colors ranging from red to blue. Some of the best food sources of anthocyanins are red grapes, chokeberry, eggplant and, of course, cherries.

These pigments attract pollinators, act as a “sunscreen” and protect the plant from radicals formed by UV light, so they act as antioxidants. The antioxidant benefits are transferred to people when the fruits or vegetables are eaten.

RAW FOOD DIET

Filed under: Nutrition — WorkerBee @ 2:35 pm

Processed and fast foods or junk foods will never make you lean or beautiful. The unatural chemicals, additives and ingredients will infact accelerate and deteriorate your life force.

Our culture has so manty ailments and suffers more from obesity and the side effect thereof than at any other time in history. Yet we have the best doctors, most advanced medical technology and researchers that money can buy.

It seems our understanding of healthy is far removed from the truth. Our over-eagerness to turn to pills or fad diets to cure our symptoms instead of changing our unhealthy diet bears witness to this fact.

NEW HERBAL REMEDY FAVORITES AND DANDELION

Filed under: Nutrition — WorkerBee @ 7:19 pm

Dandelion is considered to be one of the newest additions to the herbal repertoire. Historians have noted that there is no mention of the dandelion plant in Western history until its first appearance in the Ortus Sanitatis of 1485. In traditional Chinese medicine, dandelion was also not mentioned until later times. The dandelion did not become a popular Chinese herbal plant until the 7the century. The name of the dandelion has always invoked curiosity. How did this herb get its funny name? The story goes that the dandelion got its name from a surgeon in the 15th century, who thought that the shape of the dandelion leaves resembled a lion’s teeth. Dandelion is also interesting because it is used differently in different parts of the world. In the West, for instance, it is customary to separate the leaves and the root of the tree. However, in traditional Chinese medicine, it is customary to keep the plant intact when preparing herbal remedies.
